What is a protocol? And its relation to tokens
1. Protocol (or network)
It is the โroadโ or the sending system you use to move your cryptocurrency.
โข Example: Ethereum (ERC-20), Tron (TRC-20), Binance Smart Chain (BEP-20).
โข If you choose the wrong road, the package (your cryptos) may get lost.
In transfers:
When the exchange asks you for โprotocolโ or โnetworkโ, it wants to know which route you are going to send the funds so they can receive them correctly.
2. Token
It is what you are actually sending: the โmerchandiseโ inside the package.
โข Example: USDT, BTC, ETH.
โข The same token can travel through different networks. For example, USDT can be sent via ERC-20 (Ethereum), TRC-20 (Tron), or BEP-20 (BSC).
In transfers:
You must choose the correct token and then the correct network on both exchanges to match.
In summary:
