Institutional appetite for crypto has hit a significant speed bump. According to the latest report from CoinShares, crypto investment products saw a net outflow of $952 million last week. This marks the first major exit of capital after four consecutive weeks of growth.

The primary culprit is political and regulatory uncertainty in the U.S. Markets were banking on the passage of the Clarity Act (the Crypto Market Transparency Act) by the end of 2025. However, proceedings have been delayed until January 2026.
This delay has created a vacuum of uncertainty, prompting investors to de-risk. Additionally, fears of potential "whale" sell-offs are adding pressure to the market sentiment.

Ethereum (ETH): The biggest loser of the week with $555 million in outflows. Experts note that Ethereum’s ecosystem is highly sensitive to the regulatory standards proposed in the Clarity Act.Bitcoin (BTC): Saw an outflow of $460 million. Interestingly, institutional interest in BTC funds throughout 2025 has been notably softer compared to the record-breaking levels seen last year.XRP & Solana (SOL): Defying the trend! XRP attracted $62.9 million, while Solana saw inflows of $48.5 million. These assets continue to draw capital despite the broader market correction.

The exodus was almost entirely driven by the U.S., where investors pulled a record $990 million. While Canada and Germany saw combined inflows of approximately $62 million, it wasn't nearly enough to offset the massive liquidations in the American market.
