Israel's defence minister has said troops will remain in so-called security zones they have established by seizing large areas of Gaza even after an end to the war.

Israel Katz said the zones would provide a "buffer" to protect Israeli communities "in any temporary or permanent situation", and that "tens of per cent" of the Palestinian territory had been added since the Israeli offensive resumed three weeks ago.

Israel army says to ‘conduct initial inquiry’ after strike on Gaza hospital

The Israeli military said Monday it will investigate a strike in the area of Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, which Gaza’s civil defence agency said killed 15 people including four journalists.

“Earlier today (Monday), IDF troops carried out a strike in the area of Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis.
The Chief of the General Staff instructed to conduct an initial inquiry as soon as possible,”
The military said in a statement, adding it
“regrets any harm to uninvolved individuals and does not target journalists as such.”
